On 21st March, the Kick-Off workshop for pilot activities in the scope of the Interreg-project RAINMAN took place in Linz; Upper Austria. „RAINMAN – Integrated Heavy Rain Risk Management“ is a transnational project in the scope of the Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE program, priority 3 “Cooperating on natural and cultural resources for sustainable growth in CENTRAL EUROPE”, funding period 2014-2020. The Austrian Project Partner is the Federal Environmental Agency “Umweltbundesamt GmbH”.
Under the lead of Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Stefan Achleitner (Unit of Hydraulic Engineering, University of Innsbruck), we have been arwarded the contract for pilot activity 7 (Upper Austria): “risk assessment for future settlement development areas”. Therein, the task is to develop suitable techniques for risk assessment and -evaluation for areas with different characteristics, examine opportunities for map illustrations and to compile measure catalogues. These different approaches will be tested in three pilot areas, one of them being Upper Austria.
