The slope water chart, our planning tool for communities to assess the exposure to possible flash floods originating from heavy rain events and the related spontaneous surface discharge, has been nominated by the jury of Austrian Consultants Association for the State prize Consulting 2017, division consulting engineers. This contest (organized by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs (BMDW)) awards outstanding exportable consulting services from the fields of consulting engineers and business consulting / information technology and is bestowed alternating every two years.
The presentation of the prize 2017 with a total of 27 accepted submissions took place at November 23rd in Vienna; our project “slope water chart” (German: Hangwasserhinweiskarte) with the municipalities of Leonding and Sankt Marien (Upper Austria) as contracting authorities is the winning project of the category “Infrastructure” and thus managed the leap into the Top 5 of the overall ranking of all five categories. Therefore, it had been awarded officially the Nomiation for the State prize of consulting engineers 2017:
“Das Kartenprogramm errechnet Auswertungen, die in vorhandene Geoinformationssysteme eingespielt werden können. Open Data und die Verwendung bereits vorhandener Software ermöglichen kostengünstige Vorhersagekarten für alle Orte. Eventuelle Bedrohungen werden so erkennbar, sodass Schutzmaßnahmen zeitgerecht geplant und errichtet werden können.” (Jury statement, in German)
Of course, the whole team as well as mayor Helmut Templ (for the municipality of Sankt Marien as our client) followed the award ceremony in Vienna – we are very happy about this acknowledgement of our work!
